Oleg Klodt Architectural Bureau has completed an amazing project – a penthouse design in a reconstructed old town house of a residential complex in Polyanka 44. It is quite remarkable that the lobby interiors of this elite residential complex, consisting of three historical buildings dating back to the 19th century and five new buildings, were created by Oleg Klodt.
The apartment owners are a young creative couple, lovers of modern art and collection design. The wife, a famous singer, has dreamed about modern interior that would reflect the values of the family, their needs and their lifestyle. It was possible to create the interior with a truly amazing feel of lightness and warmth largely due to great mutual understanding with the clients.
The main advantage of this third-floor apartment is a spacious terrace covering the entire perimeter. Panoramic windows open onto an amazing view over historic streets of Moscow and the courtyard. Once the designers entered the apartment, they knew straight away what the interior would be like.

The centre of the interior is the entrance hall around which the entire layout is built in a geometric pattern. On one side there is a spacious studio full of light and sporting an open kitchen and recreational area. Further on from the kitchen is a private area containing the master bedroom, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. On the opposite side is the other part of the apartment containing a bedroom and bathroom for the clients’ future children and keeping in line with the overall concept of the interior.
The style of this project is new for the bureau and doesn’t have even a hint of the usual neoclassical style. The team were actively experimenting with shapes and mixing materials. These interior shapes the new style for Oleg Klodt’s bureau, where every piece of furniture and every detail of the décor is a masterpiece. All the items are unique and self-sufficient but are ideally matched in a well thought-out composition in this modern and laconic space. The art concept included selected textiles, rugs, painting, vases, crockery and bedding.

The entrance hall, finished in light coloured wood, sports the Horas coffee table from O&A. In the sitting room the light green wall paint applied with a gradient echo the plants on the terrace. The curved shape of a collectible Avena chandelier positioned above the dining table resembles blades of green grass covered in sparkling drops of morning dew. The master bedroom with sliding panoramic windows opens onto stunning views of the terrace full of plants that create the atmosphere of a restful summer’s day on a veranda.

“We strived to erase the boundaries between the outdoor and indoor space and our aim was to achieve visual unity of the exterior and the interior” – said Oleg Klodt. Thanks to panoramic glass windows the entire space of the apartment looks light and airy. We used a lot of light wood in finishings. A light oak green colour palette and natural light coming through the windows create a spring and summer feel all year round.”
